Library Building

For over 80 years we have created or enhanced libraries of all shapes and sizes for readers and collectors across the world. We believe that books speak, and loudly. A shelf, a wall, a room full of books reveals so much. Our experienced booksellers live and breathe good books, whether rare or new. Every project is different but all our libraries tell a story, and tell it well. We might explore one subject or many, reflect a personality or a place, or simply choose books that we know a particular client will most enjoy. Our expertise lies in understanding what our discerning clients want to achieve with a library and then exceeding their expectations.

Private Libraries

Current or recent private library projects include: '300 books to read before I die'; 'the positive story of humanity'; 'the great American novel'; 'modernism across the visual arts'; 'every 20th century aviation memoir'; 'the history of English architecture'.

Corporate Libraries

We have carefully chosen books for hotel suites and public areas, ocean and river cruise ships, private jets, board rooms, private members clubs, bars and restaurants, embassies, think tanks and reading and reference libraries for investment firms.

Formed Collections

Heywood Hill advises collectors, or their heirs and estates, over the sale of formed collections of rare books. We work quietly to find a new home for a collection as a whole, whether a private or institutional buyer.
